If people look at the decimation of the opposition in recent Lok Sabha results in disbelief then it is their fault. Clearly, they failed to see the writing on the wall. In the last five years, there has been only one man dominating the entire media. Be it his foreign sojourns, various schemes, rallies, Mann ki Baat, pilgrimages that he regularly keeps undertaking, celebrating festivals with the soldiers, we haven’t missed even a single event of NaMo.
Can you name any other leader from previous years who could enter the people’s psyche like him? It is the pure magic of his words and personality that has made them dance to his tunes. He asked them to give up LPG subsidy and they considered it as a cool chance to bask in the sacrificial surge. Demonetization was embraced as his surgical strike on black money. People also accepted GST as a strike on hidden taxes. What if they were caught unawares, even his cabinet is never aware of his next move. Who is bothered about falling rupee, rising prices of petrol, diesel, LPG? Why should they fret over Judiciary, CBI, EC, RBI, Airlines, BSNL,money-laundering? NaMo ‘hain na’. The only worry is the neighbouring rogue state and he has been able to tame it in his quintessential grand style.
NaMo wants us to acknowledge every occasion in a splendid way. For the first time, we celebrated Elections like a festival. Exams, results, Navratraas, Ramzaan, surgical strikes, Abhinandan’s release, so many things were happening simultaneously. Our focus was bang on the high sky. Who had the time to look down and ponder over mundane things like development? Modi Ji is there, all is well.
Leader of an opposition party tried to build a narrative around ‘chowkidaar chor hai’. In his rallies, suddenly he would start shouting ‘chowkidaar’ and the crowd would go berserk and rejoice in unison ‘chor hai.’ Distanced from our mythological realities, he forgot that he is actually helping NaMo. The biggest, the fondest and most lovable ‘chor’ for us has always been our own ‘maakhan chor’-Krishna. People immediately started equating NaMo with Him. In the present avatar, he played his Leela so deftly that when he was pulling the carpet from under their feet, opposition parties failed to notice the trick. Yes, he is a ‘chor’ who has stolen their votes, vote-share, vote-percentage, vote-bank, issues, in fact, their entire narrative.
Going by the adage: “There is always a woman behind the success of a man,” Modi, like Krishna, has the power of millions of women behind him who came forward to vote for him in huge numbers. Be it his Ujjawala Yojna, Jan Dhan Yojna, Household Toilet Scheme or Triple Talaq Ban, women have been the biggest beneficiaries. Moreover, keeping them engaged through entertainment, one more channel got added to their kitty, available free of charge. They had seen their husbands in boring greys, blues, whites and blacks and here was NaMo giving them fashion goals and adding colours to their imagination. Why would women not vote for him?
Who would get carried away by the talk of alleviating poverty these days? Our PM himself is a poor man. The opposition will have to brainstorm in a big way to understand this man who is miles ahead of them in his conduct, thinking and actions.
